Paranausea
Production time - 2 weeks.
Game Jam
Paranausea is a first person atmospheric horror game where the player is stuck on a ship in the middle of the ocean. The player must fix holes and light candles for as long as they can before the entity of the ocean snaps them up and brings them to a very watery death.
Made for the 2024 Scream Jam by 3 people.

Process:
As a small team of 3 this jam was quick and messy, but we made a game in the allocated time. We were tasked to do a horror game, according to the theme given to us, working closely with a programmer and an artist, we developed a gameplay loop to implement and work on. Communicating with the artist we managed to make assets that we needed for the game, and coordingating with the programmer we were able to implement them to create a horror game in the time given to us. We wanted to make our game themed with paranoia and thallasophobia which both worked together with mechanics such as voices that whisper to you, a leviathan creature that moves under your ship, and eyes that watch you from the edge of your vision, dissapearing if you try to look at them. Fix leaks and re light candles to stop your sanity from plummeting and becoming a meal for the lavaithan.
